St. Alphonsus Liguori Statue

Leonardo Da Vinci last work was the St Alphonsus Liguori Statue. and unfinished.  I enjoyed the efforts to replicate the sculpture using charcoal on paper.  There is a lot to be said when looking at this unfinished work other than his dissatisfaction with the fact he knew it required more time than he had to complete it.  Frustrated he actually tried to damage it in anger.  Drawing this work showed his attention to detail and that in most places the finished work would be very close and hidden inside this rock. Artwork Size: 18×24, 2026

The Dancing Maiden

The dancing maiden is twisting, turning, each as a segment, in different points in time.  The capture of several poses are done in a solid gesture, representing and standing twirl dance move.  The five images representing how she starts closest, recedes to the left and then falls back to the right where she ends her movement.   Charcoal on paper. Artwork Size: 18×24 $155.00

10

The Plank and the Restful

The plank is a move torturous on the form.  Its like a bridge, seemingly rectangular in shape while almost doubling itself in size.  The white object in the center of the frame follows the various abstract moves.  The key  poses are the crouch, splayed, stand, rest, reflections, relaxations, and sleep shown as outlines. Unframed charcoal on paper, Artwork Size: 18×24 Price: $100.00

11

Amazon Riding into Battle

His headless, armless, broken horse tail damages and toga cracks still have enough amazing features for this art.  Originally located at the Acropolis in Greece, the Amazon rider and her horse forms manage a fluid movement as the horse rides hard while it rears and bucks.  Charcoal and paper distills the three dimensional sculpture into a two dimensional drawing.  Stories contest that her removed breast was purposefully to not affect of this archers mastery.   Artwork Size: 18×24 $100 unframed.

He is an element of the cosmos, the yellow tie representing the sun, and the black representing the coldness of space.  His emotion continues to play a big part of the unknown, endless calculations, still unable to solve.  His green represents his knowing he is either close, or very far from ultimately understand meanwhile his persistent gaze is wasted in a state of undecided flux. Given choice, some easier to make than the other offers consequences.  Charcoal and oil pastel, Artwork Size: 18×24 $175 unframed.

Apollo and Daphny

Pair of frustrated young people at the point where a wish no longer satisfies either.  In the tale of Daphne being converted into a tree by Zeus, to thwart Apollos advances, she feels the pain as she changes into a wooden stump.  Apollo’s discouraged shows as he reaches for her on a pedestal only to find a rock.
